The Town of Berkshire held their regular meeting in the Town Hall on August 21, 2007, at 7:00 P.M.

 

Supervisor Hoffmier opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members present were:  Dennis Whittaker, Albert Warner, Jr., Trudy Bentley, and Audrey Payne.

Also present was Karl Spoonhower, Sup’t of Hwys.

 

Approval of minutes was made with these corrections:  (not this way “We do this by

Resolution next meeting.)  We are not going to join in on it, Board Approval.  This was under Tioga County Garbage Barton Transfer Station discussion.  Motion made by Dennis Whitaker seconded by Trudy Bentley. The fact that Kathy Anderson was absent should have been Cathy Edwards absent. Carried

 

 

Assessor candidates-Cathy Edwards is willing to talk and help people.. Will do reevaluation with David  Briggs of Willet (he just done Richford’s).  Takes about 18 mouths to do the job.

 

Privilege of the Floor-Dimon Hill residents want to have a speed limit to 30 mph.

The board has to apply to the state for this.  Karl can post caution signs to slow traffic.

 

                                    Communications and Petitions

 

  1. 2008 Retirement $12,728.  have money in budget will pay in December.
  2. Dues for Assoc. of Town. $500. in budget for this.
  3. Equalization Rate Final notice 3.97% lowest in county
  4. Code Enforcement Public hearing if paper work is present to clerk.
  5. 2010 Census Gov’t doing  this.  4 hours for screening.

 

 

Reports

    1. County Planning Board—absent
    2. Highway—Got sidewalk grant, will get it next week, package $50,000.
    3. Code Enforcement—No Report
    4. Planning board-absent
    5. Town Clerk-passed report.
    6.  Justice Report-absent
    7. Dog control-2 dogs.
    8. Committee reports—no report
    9. Supervisor-passed cash flow reports

                                    Old Business

 

  1. Reassessment Budget- Data done is gone—do need to get new data.

Dennis Whittaker makes the motion to hire Cathy Edward to be new assessor.  Seconded by Trudy Bentley depending on salary negations.  Carried.

Karl to be here to work on budget.  Library and Squad talk with her for figures for assessment.

     

                        New Business

 

Replace Board of Review Member—ask for a member.

 

                        Warrants

 

Trudy Bentley make the motion to pay Highway Fund #122-141 $38,312.38 seconded by Dennis Whittaker Carried.

 

Trudy Bentley makes the motion to pay General Fund #90-101 $5,788.70 seconded by Dennis Whittaker Carried

 

Motion made to adjourn by Trudy Bentley at 8:08 P.M.  Seconded by Albert Warner, Jr.  Carried.
