WHEREAS, The Town Board of Berkshire is concerned that the inevitable natural gas drilling operations could have a significant impact on quality of life issues in the Town of Berkshire, and

WHEREAS, the issues that impact Berkshire will also affect all the municipalities in Tioga County, and,

WHEREAS, while the Town Board of Berkshire does not wish to impair the positive economic impact that natural gas production will bring to our area, we believe that it would be in the best interest of the 15 municipalities in Tioga County to have uniform policies to present to gas companies and that gas companies would most likely prefer to negotiate infrastructure issues with a single host rather than 15 individual municipalities,

BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of Berkshire strongly urges the Tioga County Legislature to establish County wide policies on gas drilling related issues that most likely would affect quality of life concerns common to the municipalities within the County.
